an absence of Eight years & upwards as Government Chaplain in
Hong Kong I have recently returned to England
on sick leave. As my health
has suffered from the effects of climate I am desirous of avoiding return to the tropics. I have taken the liberty of addressing your Grace & requesting your kind consideration and assistance.
I am prepared to place the Colonial Chaplaincy of Hong Kong in the hands of Government. I would accept a home appointment of considerably less pecuniary value, should anything occur in which your Grace would be pleased to assist me.
